The 2010 Dole Leadership Prize will be presented to the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) of World War II, on Sunday, October 3rd at the New Century AirCenter, Heart of America Wing in New Century, Kansas (outside Olathe).  The $25,000 prize will be given to Texas Woman’s University to enhance the online availability of the WASP collection.  TWU is home to the WASP national archives and is an integral facilitator of the WASP legacy.

DENTON  — One is a nationally recognized leader in graduate education. Another is known as the “grandmother of adapted physical activity.” The third is a highly ranked nursing administrator, and the fourth is renowned in North Texas for her philanthropic leadership. All have made their mark in their distinctive careers and communities and have been named as the 2010 Distinguished Alumni by Texas Woman’s University and the TWU Former Students Association.

Dr. Karen DePauw, vice president and dean for graduate education at Virginia Tech; Dr. Claudine Sherrill, TWU professor emerita of kinesiology; Dr. Rosemary Luquire, senior vice president and corporate chief nursing officer for Baylor Health Care System; and Virginia Chandler Dykes, noted philanthropist and a retired occupational therapist, will be recognized at the TWU Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon on Friday, April 23.

TWU’s spring enrollment a record 13,017 students — 2/4/10

DENTON — Texas Woman’s University has set a new record for spring semester enrollment with 13,017 students, up 9.1 percent from last spring.

More importantly, TWU’s total semester credit hours are up 8.7 percent from last spring to 124,383 hours — also a record. Student credit hours, not headcount, determine a university’s state funding. All numbers are based on preliminary 12th class day data.
