TWU named a top Military Friendly School for third consecutive year

DENTON — G.I. Jobs magazine has named Texas Woman’s University one of its top Military Friendly Schools for the third consecutive year. The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list recognizes the top 20 percent of universities, colleges and trade schools nationwide that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.

According to G.I. Jobs, Military Friendly Schools prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience and offer scholarships and discounts, veterans’ clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served.

At TWU, military- and veteran-focused offerings include:

• Active recruitment of veteran students and the website, which has admissions information specifically for veterans, including checklists, information on veterans’ benefits, financial aid and scholarships, and a list of TWU support services;
• A Veterans Affairs Center on campus to assist with the G.I. Bill and other veteran education benefits;
• Online and blended degree programs that offer veterans flexibility in their school and work schedule; and
• An active TWU Student Veterans Association.

G.I. Jobs magazine provides education, transition assistance and job opportunities for active military and veterans. For more information about G.I. Jobs and its list of military friendly schools, visit
