MEDIA ALERT: TWU to host “Math and Science Day” June 24 for middle and high school girls from Girls Inc. of Dallas

BACKGROUND: This is the fifth year the TWU College of Arts and Sciences has hosted the “Math and Science Day” for Girls Inc.
“There is still a tremendous shortage of mathematicians and scientists among women,” said Dr. Ann Staton, dean of the TWU College of Arts and Sciences. “The purpose of the day is to create interest and excitement in math and science and to encourage participants to pursue degrees and careers in these fields.”
Anna Bussart, project coordinator for the TWU College of Arts and Sciences, said “We sincerely hope that this event encourage the girls to challenge themselves to study math and science throughout their school careers until they become experts in the fields.”
