TWU to host Power of a Healthy Woman symposium Sept. 23

DENTON — The Fourth Annual Power of a Healthy Woman symposium will take place Friday, Sept. 23 in Hubbard Hall on the Texas Woman’s University Denton campus. The event, designed to increase knowledge of health risks among women and to raise awareness about disease prevention and health promotion, will begin at 8 a.m. The registration fee, which includes lunch, is $35. The keynote speaker for the event is Mark Fenton, nationally recognized public health, planning and transportation consultant and former host of the PBS television series “America’s Walking.” Featured speakers include Dr. Deborah Clegg, associate professor in the Touchstone Diabetes Center at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center; Dr. Maggie Jover of Texas AgriLife; and Nishendu Vasavada, M.D., medical director of University Behavioral Health in Denton.
