TWU Counseling and Family Therapy Clinic announces fall programs

DENTON — The Texas Woman’s University Counseling and Family Therapy Clinic will begin its fall programs in October. The cost for each group varies from $20 to $25 per week. A $10 screening fee is required prior to enrollment in the group. TWU graduate students under the direct supervision of licensed professionals provide services.

Sessions will take place in the clinic, located in the Human Development Building (HDB) on the TWU Denton campus. For a map of the campus, visit www.twu.edu/maps.asp.

Adolescent Girls (ages 12-16) and Mothers Group

The purpose of this group is to reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms in adolescent girls and to build family functioning through mother-daughter group experiences. Adolescents who are aggressive, violent or abusing drugs are not recommended for the group.

The group meets from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 5-Nov. 16.

Adolescent Male Anger Management Group (ages 14-17)

This group is designed to help males ages 14-17 gain control over their angry feelings and behaviors; to help them understand the source of their anger; and to decrease angry behaviors.

The group meets from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 6-Nov. 17.

Adult Male Anger Management Group (ages 18 and older)

This group is designed to help males ages 18 and older gain control over their angry feelings and behaviors; to help them understand the source of their anger; and to decrease angry behaviors.
The group meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 6-Nov. 17.

Depression Group for Adult Women (ages 18 and older)

This group’s purpose is to help women who are experiencing depression improve their level of functioning and develop strategies for managing their depression.

The group meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Oct. 3-Nov. 14.

Divorce Recovery Group for Men and Women (ages 18 and older; divorce final)

This group is designed to help men and women accept divorce and build a plan for their new lives, including dealing with issues associated with the divorce and building new relationships.

The group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 6-Nov. 17.
