'The Meeting' is part of TWU Black History Month celebration

2/1/10

DENTON — A secret meeting between Malcom X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is imagined in “The Meeting,” a one-act play scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 9 at Texas Woman’s University.

The performance will take place at 7 p.m. in the Redbud Theater, located on the north side of historic Hubbard Hall on TWU’s Denton campus. Tickets cost $5 and will be available at the door. TWU students will be admitted free with a valid student ID. For a map of the campus, visit www.twu.edu/maps.asp. For more information, call (940) 898-3609.

The play, written by Jeff Stetson, ponders what happened in a secret meeting between Dr. King and Malcolm X to talk about their differing approaches to the issue of racial segregation. The play has won numerous awards, including eight NAACP Awards and the Louis B. Mayer award.

The play is sponsored by TWU’s Campus Activities Board as part of TWU’s Black History Month celebration.
