TWU to conduct spring commencement May 14 and 15


DENTON — The spring 2010 semester at Texas Woman’s University will draw to a close with commencement ceremonies scheduled Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 on TWU’s Denton campus.

Students and family members who have tickets are invited to attend.  The ceremonies, which include graduates from the Denton, Dallas and Houston campuses, will take place in the Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneer Hall, located on Bell Avenue. Receptions hosted by TWU Chancellor Dr. Ann Stuart will follow each ceremony on the second floor of the Student Union, located on the southwest corner of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive.

Approximately 882 undergraduate and 687 graduate degrees will be awarded during the ceremonies.

TWU Student Regent Rae Lynn McFarlin will deliver the commencement address for Ceremony I, scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14. Ms. McFarlin, of Bonham, also will receive her bachelor of chemistry and bachelor of mathematics degrees during the ceremony. Phebe Phillips, president of Phebe Phillips Company Inc., will speak during Ceremony II, scheduled at 2 p.m.

Ceremony III will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, with Dr. Michael Wiebe, TWU Cornaro Professor of Teacher Education addressing the graduates. TWU Regent Dr. Ann Scanlon McGinity, chief nurse executive and senior vice president of operations for Methodist Hospital in Houston, will speak during Ceremony IV, scheduled at 2 p.m.
