TWU to show documentary 'Standing On My Sisters' Shoulders' Feb. 24
DENTON — Texas Woman’s University will show the award-winning Civil Rights documentary “Standing On My Sisters’ Shoulders’ Wednesday, Feb. 24 in celebration of Black History Month.
The movie will be shown at 4 p.m. in room 203 of the Classroom Faculty Office (CFO) Building. The event is free and open to the public. For a map of the campus, visit www.twu.edu/maps.asp. “Standing On My Sisters’ Shoulders” presents original interviews with women who were the unsung heroines of the Civil Rights movement in 1950s and 1960s Mississippi. These women faced risked their lives to fight for the right to vote and for an equal education, ultimately bringing about change in Mississippi and altering the course of American history.
