Best-selling author Sapphire to speak at TWU’s Cultural Connections Conference
DENTON — Best-selling author Sapphire, who wrote the book that inspired the Academy Award-nominated film “Precious,” is among the featured speakers at Texas Woman’s University’s Cultural Connections Conference March 4 to 5.
Registration for the conference is $20 for the general public and $15 for TWU students, staff and faculty. The registration deadline is March 3, and on-site registration is $25 for the general public and $20 for TWU students, staff and faculty. Sapphire’s poetry, fiction and essays have been translated into 11 different languages and her work has been adapted for the stage in several countries. She will speak during the opening evening of the conference on March 4 at 6 p.m.
The second featured speaker at the TWU Cultural Connections Conference is Marie Diaz, a motivational speaker, trainer and CEO of Pursuit of Excellence, Inc.0— a Dallas-based human resources consulting company. Ms. Diaz will give her talk March 5 at 9 a.m.
The final featured speaker is Joshua Fredenburg, an author, Generation Y expert and TV commentator0. He will speak on March at 11:45 a.m.
