Todd Whitthorne, president and CEO of Cooper Concepts, to serve as keynote speaker at TWU’s “The Power of a Healthy Woman” event Sept. 25
DENTON — National health and wellness expert Todd Whitthorne, president and CEO of Cooper Concepts, Inc. in Dallas, will serve as the keynote speaker during Texas Woman’s University’s annual “The Power of a Healthy Woman” event Sept. 25.
Adult women are encouraged to attend the half-day event, which shines the spotlight on women’s health. It will be held from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in Hubbard Hall on the TWU Denton campus. As of Aug. 16, sponsors for the event are Dairy MAX; Caring for Women; Texas AgriLIFE Extension, Denton County; Higgenbotham & Associates; North Texas Hospital; TWU Food Services; the TWU Institute for Women’s Health; and the TWU Leadership Institute.Mr. Whitthorne is the president and chief executive officer of Cooper Concepts, Inc., a division of the renowned Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas. He also serves as chairman of the Our Kids’ Health Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing childhood obesity and inactivity in Texas. Mr. Whitthorne is a member of both the American College of Sports Medicine and the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion, and serves on the board of directors for the Dallas “GET A MOVE ON” campaign.
After graduating from UCLA with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology, Mr. Whitthorne had a successful broadcasting career that spanned several cities including Washington, D.C., Phoenix and Dallas. He won both an Emmy and a Katie award as a co-host of “Good Morning Texas” on WFAA-TV, the Dallas ABC affiliate. For eight years he served as host and executive producer of “Healthy Living with Dr. Ken Cooper,” a nationally syndicated weekly radio program broadcast in 42 U.S. cities. Since 2005, he has served as the television host for the Dallas White Rock Marathon and the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot.Other featured speakers for “The Power of a Health Woman” event include: Dr. Donna Israel, president and principal of Professional Nutrition Therapists, LLC; Dr. Anna Love, former TWU assistant professor of health studies and founder of Love to Live Well; and Dr. Nishendu Vasavada, a corporate medical director of University Behavioral Health in Denton.
