Priyanka Lalwani, health educator at Texas Woman’s University, says mammography is an extremely important tool for early detection of breast cancer. She urges all women to consider the following message from Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services: “My message to women is simple. Mammograms have always been an important life-saving tool in the fight against breast cancer, and they still are today. Keep doing what you have been doing for years: talk to your doctor about your individual history, ask questions and make the decision that is right for you.”
The free mammogram service is made possible through Komen North Texas Affiliate grant funding. For more information, visit www.komennorthtexas.org or www.pioneerbreasthealth.com.
