TWU exercise/nutrition study needs female volunteers

DENTON — Female volunteers are needed for a Texas Woman’s University Institute of Women’s Health study to determine the affect of aerobic exercise on the body’s metabolism of a high-carbohydrate meal.
Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 44, non-smokers, not pregnant, not currently exercising more than 60 minutes a week, not on birth control, not taking any medications for diabetes or heart disease and have had a normal menstrual cycle over the past three months. Participants will be asked to complete four research trials (two trials will involve exercise and two will involve rest) over a four-month period. They will ingest a milkshake and will donate a small amount of blood on four separate occasions over a four-month period.The total time commitment for this study is approximately 30 hours over a six-month period. Participants will receive financial compensation upon completion of the study and a free dietary analysis, a free blood analysis and a free fitness assessment.
