TWU schedules spring commencement

DENTON — Texas Woman’s University will hold spring 2009 commencement ceremonies Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 on the university’s Denton campus. Approximately 1,308 degrees will be awarded during the four ceremonies.
Ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day in the Kitty Magee Arena of Pioneer Hall, located on Bell Avenue. Students and family members who have tickets are invited to attend. Each ceremony will be followed by a reception hosted by TWU Chancellor Ann Stuart on the second floor of the Student Union.
The 10 a.m. ceremony on Friday is for candidates in the College of Health Sciences. The commencement speaker is Margaret Jordan, president and CEO of Dallas Medical Resource.
The 2 p.m. ceremony on Friday is for candidates in the College of Professional Education. Vivian Taylor, principal of the Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, is the speaker.
The 10 a.m. ceremony on Saturday is for candidates in the College of Arts and Sciences (School of Management candidates attend Ceremony IV). TWU Distinguished Alumna Gloria Vasquez Brown, vice president of community affairs for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, will deliver the commencement address.
The 2 p.m. ceremony on Saturday is for candidates in the College of Nursing and the School of Management. Caleb O’Rear, CEO of Denton Regional Hospital, is the speaker.
