DENTON —
Dr. Anne Simpson, professor of reading and director of the
Texas Woman’s University Reading Recovery Center, recently
was elected vice president of the Reading Recovery® North
American Trainers Group.
Reading Recovery®
is an early-intervention program for first-graders who are
at risk of failure in learning to read. The Reading Recovery®
North American Trainers Group (NATG) works to solve issues
of implementing the Reading Recovery® program throughout
the United States and Canada, to support research and development
and to improve teacher leader and teacher training.
“The work
of the North American Trainers Group has an international
impact on early literacy and early intervention,” Dr.
Simpson said. “It is a wonderful honor to have the opportunity
to work with this distinguished group of scholars.”
TWU is one of only
22 Reading Recovery® university training centers in the
United States and one of only two universities in the country
providing training for Descubriendo La Lectura, the Spanish
language version of Reading Recovery®.
