named a top Military Friendly School

DENTON - G.I. Jobs magazine has named Texas Woman’s
University one of its top Military Friendly Schools for 2010.
TWU is among the top 15 percent of universities, colleges
and trade schools nationwide to receive this honor from the
magazine that embraces America’s veterans as students.
“TWU is proud
of its commitment to serving the needs of students from all
branches of the military,” said TWU Provost Dr. Kay
Clayton. “TWU believes in providing veterans with the
skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in their careers
as they transition to the private sector.”
According to G.I.
Jobs, Military Friendly Schools actively recruit veterans
or active military and implement military-friendly policies
for their continuing education.
At TWU, military-
and veteran-focused offerings include:
• Active
recruitment of veteran students and the website www.twu.edu/veterans,
which has admissions information specifically for veterans,
including checklists; information on veterans’ benefits,
financial aid and scholarships; and a list of TWU support
services;
• A Veterans Affairs Center on campus to assist with
the GI Bill and other veteran education benefits;
• Online and blended degree programs that offer veterans
flexibility in their school and work schedule; and
• An active TWU Student Veterans Association.
G.I. Jobs magazine
provides education, transition assistance and job opportunities
for active military and veterans. In addition to its recognition
of colleges and universities, G.I. Jobs ranks companies that
are vet-friendly and promotes attributes that veterans bring
