Oct. 30 to promote recycling
10/27/09
DENTON
– Texas Woman’s University students plan to sift
through dumpsters from three residence halls and collect recyclable
materials during a “Dumpster Diving” event at
TWU’s Denton campus Friday Oct. 30.
TWU’s
“Dumpster Diving” event will take place from 8
a.m. to noon on Oct. 30 on the northwest side of campus by
the Lowry Woods Community, next to Chapel Drive. Community,
student, faculty and staff volunteers are welcome to participate.
For more information, email hschmidt1@twu.edu.
“The
TWU community is excited at the possibility of a single stream
recycling program being implemented at the university,”
said Kimberly Joines, an interdisciplinary studies junior.
“Using this large sample from student housing, we will
know how much trash produced from Guinn, Stark and Lowry Woods
is recyclable and could be part of the new program.”
The
TWU Facilities Management and Construction Department, TWU
students, the TWU student organization TREES and the City
of Denton Solid Waste and Recycling Department are sponsoring
the event to promote recycling at TWU.
