Acclaimed author Gregory Maguire to speak at TWU Nov. 21

9, 2009 — DENTON – Acclaimed author Gregory Maguire
will discuss his latest work “Matchless,” a re-imagination
of the Hans Christian Andersen classic “The Little Match
Girl,” during the annual Denton Reads lecture at Texas
Woman’s University’s Denton Campus Saturday, Nov.
21.
The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. in the Southeast Ballroom
of Hubbard Hall located on Administration Drive on TWU's campus
in Denton. The event is free and open to the public, but advanced
tickets are required as seating is limited. To reserve tickets,

Mr. Maguire is the acclaimed author of the best-selling novel
“Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the
West,” which was made into the hit Broadway musical
“Wicked.” His other works include “Confessions
of an Ugly Stepsister” and “Son of a Witch,”
a sequel to “Wicked.”
Each year Denton Reads hosts a lecture by a notable author
to encourage reading in the city of Denton. The program is
made possible in part with a grant from Humanities Texas,
the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
