TWU receives approval to offer nursing continuing education credits
DENTON/DALLAS/HOUSTON — Nurses seeking to renew their licenses or wanting to take professional advancement or specialized training courses can now come to Texas Woman’s University for their continuing education needs.
The Texas Nurses Association recently approved TWU as an official provider of continuing nursing education (CNE) credits. The university also received American Nurses Credentialing Center Certification of Approval to offer CNE hours to nurses.
The Texas Board of Nursing requires nurses to acquire 20 hours of CNE every two years as part of their relicensure process.
“In addition to their licensure requirements, nurses at all levels are looking for professional advancement opportunities as part of their ongoing professional development,” said Dr. Patricia Holden-Huchton, dean of the TWU College of Nursing. “As the state’s largest college of nursing with more than 13,000 alumni, it is a natural fit that registered nurses should come to TWU for their continuing education and professional development needs.”
TWU has established the Lifelong Learning Continuing Nursing Education (LL-CNE) program to offer continuing nursing education at TWU’s campuses in Denton, Dallas and Houston. The program also will offer online courses, on-campus seminars, classes at conferences, hospitals, businesses and association meetings, nursing grand rounds, webcasts and podcasts, and LL-CNE certification programs.
