DENTON — Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Donna Scott Tilley,
Texas Woman’s University associate professor of nursing,
to the state’s Nursing Facility Administrators Advisory
Committee.
Dr. Tilley is the
only nurse on this state nursing home regulatory committee
and will serve a five-year term, which expires Feb. 1, 2013.
The Nursing Facility Administrators Advisory Committee advises
the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services on licensing
and regulation of nursing facility administrators.
The committee consists
of one physician, three nursing facility administrators, one
registered nurse, one social worker and three public members.
“We have
an essential duty as educators to serve the state at the highest
level,” Dr. Tilley, RN, Ph.D., said. “Serving
on this committee also helps me stay current in issues of
abuse and neglect, my research area.”
Dr. Tilley of Fort
Worth is a past board member of Hospice of Lubbock and Women’s
Protective Services, and member of the Texas Nurses Association
and Southern Nursing Research Association. She received a
bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas Tech
University and a doctorate in nursing from the University
of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
