Regents approve faculty promotions and tenure

DENTON —
The Texas Woman's University Board of Regents recently approved
promotions and tenure recommendations at its quarterly meeting
held June 6.
Associate Professors
Dr. Jeffrey Robb (history/government) and
Dr. Anne Simpson (reading) were promoted to professor
and received tenure. Associate Professors Dr. Josephine
Chan (occupational therapy –- Houston), Dr.
James Chenevert (music/drama), Dr. Pat Driscoll
(School of Management), Dr. Young-Hoo Kwon
(kinesiology), Dr. Winifred Mallam (mathematics/computer
science), Dr. Linda Rubin (psychology/philosophy)
and Dr. Susan Sheriff (nursing –- Dallas)
and were promoted to professor. Associate Professors
Dr. Diane Gregory (visual arts) and Dr.
Melinda Cowart (teacher education) also were awarded
tenure.
Dr. Pat
Holden-Huchton, associate professor and dean of the
TWU College of Nursing was promoted to professor and granted
tenure. Dr. Mark Kessler, who will
begin his duties as professor and chair of TWU's department
of history and government July 16, and Dr. Anne Stiles,
professor and coordinator of the nursing doctoral program
on the Denton campus, also received tenure.
Associate Clinical
Professor Dr. Peggy Landrum (nursing –-
Houston) was promoted to clinical professor. Assistant
Professors Dr. Susan Adams (family sciences),
Dr. Pam Baker (School of Management), Dr.
Jan Foster (nursing –- Houston), Sarah
Gamblin (dance), Dr. Katherine Landdeck (history/government),
Dr. Dojin Ryu (nutrition and food sciences), Mark
Sandel (social work), Dr. Richard Shuster
(music/drama), Dr. Lisa
Silliman-French (kinesiology), Dr. Martina
Will de Chaparro (history/government) and Dr.
Lisa Zottarelli (sociology) were promoted to associate
professor and received tenure.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Marsha Neville-Smith (occupational therapy
– Dallas) was promoted to associate professor.
Assistant Clinical
Professors Joan Edwards (nursing –
Houston), Laurie Galatas (nursing –
Dallas), Barbara McAlister (nursing –
Dallas), Melissa McClung (occupational therapy),
Ellie Raffen (occupational therapy), Rheatte
Solomon (nursing – Houston) and Elaine
Wilson (nursing – Dallas) were promoted to
associate clinical professor.
Several retiring
faculty were awarded Emeritus status by the Regents. Dr.
Thomas K. Brown (music), Dr. John Flohr
(music) and Dr. Ron Fritsch (teacher education)
were named Professor Emeritus. Dr. Carolyn Adamson
(nursing), Dr. Lillian Chenoweth
(family sciences), Dr. Gail Davis (nursing),
Dr. Roberta Nutt (psychology), Dr.
Joyce Palmer (English, speech and foreign languages)
and Joan Wall (music) were named Professor
Emerita.
