TWU schedules winter commencement

DENTON — The fall 2008 semester at Texas Woman’s University will draw to a close Saturday, Dec. 13, with commencement ceremonies scheduled for 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. on TWU’s Denton campus.
Students and family members who have tickets are invited to attend. The ceremonies, which include graduates from the Denton and Dallas campuses, will take place in the Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneer Hall, located on Bell Avenue. Receptions hosted by TWU Chancellor Dr. Ann Stuart will follow each ceremony on the second floor of the Student Union, located on the southwest corner of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive.
Approximately 611 undergraduate and 604 graduate degrees will be awarded during the Denton ceremonies.
The 9 a.m. ceremony is for candidates in the College of Arts and Sciences. (Graduates of the General Studies Program will attend the 3 p.m. ceremony.) Ms. Brenda Turner, visual art education specialist for the Arkansas Department of Education and a TWU alumna, will deliver the commencement address.
The noon ceremony is for candidates in the College of Health Sciences and the College of Nursing. Michael Mayo, FACHE, president of Methodist Dallas Medical Center and a TWU alumnus, is the speaker for this ceremony.
The 3 p.m. ceremony is for candidates in the College of Professional Education and the General Studies Program. Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert will deliver the commencement address.
TWU’s Houston commencement will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 in the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas. Harris County Commissioner Sylvia R. Garcia, J.D., a Distinguished Alumna of TWU, will deliver the commencement address.
Approximately 300 degrees will be awarded during the Houston ceremony.
Chancellor Stuart will preside at each ceremony.
