Texas Senate confirms
McCullough and Schrader as new TWU Regents

AUSTIN —
The Texas State Senate confirmed Tuesday, May 1, the appointments
of P. Mike McCullough and George R. Schrader to the Texas
Woman’s University’s Board of Regents. Mr. McCullough
and Mr. Schrader will serve on the TWU governing board until
Feb. 1, 2013.
“Our regents
are so important to the success of this university,”
TWU Chancellor and President Dr. Ann Stuart said. “As
Dallas community leaders, Mr. McCullough’s and Mr. Schrader’s
value to the board will be immeasurable as we look ahead to
building the new Institute of Health Sciences-Dallas Center.”
“I join my
fellow regents in welcoming Mr. McCullough and Mr. Schrader
to the board,” said Harry L. Crumpacker, II, Chair and
Presiding Officer of the TWU Board of Regents. “I look
forward to working together as TWU continues to grow and thrive
as an education leader in Texas.”
Mr. McCullough
is a senior partner with Thompson & Knight L.L.P. and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Woman’s
University Foundation. Since 1997, he has been recognized
in the annual publication of Best Lawyers in America. Mr.
McCullough is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas
Bar Association and is a fellow of the American College of
Trust and Estate Counsel. He serves on numerous boards, including
the Meadows Foundation, Children’s Health Services of
Texas, the Salvation Army of Dallas-Fort Worth, the Dallas
Symphony Foundation and the Callier Foundation. He earned
his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a law
degree from the University of Texas.
“I am honored
to be a part of this 106-year-old university, where my mother
graduated with honors and pride in 1926,” Mr. McCullough
said. “I salute TWU and its continued goal of maintaining
an outstanding educational, cultural and inspirational program
for its students. I look forward to nurturing that heritage
for future generations of women.”
Mr. Schrader is
a principal of Schrader & Cline, L.L.C. and owner of Schrader
Investment Company. Previously, he was executive vice president
for LDB Corporation and city manager for the cities of Dallas,
Mesquite and Ennis. He is a past president and a life member
of the International City Management Association, a past president
and board member of the Texas City Management Association
and a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
He serves on several boards, including Life Information Inc.,
Baker University, the Methodist Health System and Boy Scouts
of America. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Baker
University and a master’s degree from the University
of Kansas.
“It is a
compliment that Gov. Perry appointed me to serve such a distinguished
state university,” Mr. Schrader said. “I feel
privileged to serve with my fellow board members, and I look
forward to having a part in advancing the work of the university.”
The next meeting
of the TWU Board of Regents will be held June 8 at the TWU
Institute of Health Sciences-Presbyterian Center in Dallas.
