Texas Senate confirms McCullough and Schrader as new TWU Regents

AUSTIN — The Texas State Senate confirmed Tuesday, May 1, the appointments of P. Mike McCullough and George R. Schrader to the Texas Woman’s University’s Board of Regents. Mr. McCullough and Mr. Schrader will serve on the TWU governing board until Feb. 1, 2013.

“Our regents are so important to the success of this university,” TWU Chancellor and President Dr. Ann Stuart said. “As Dallas community leaders, Mr. McCullough’s and Mr. Schrader’s value to the board will be immeasurable as we look ahead to building the new Institute of Health Sciences-Dallas Center.”

“I join my fellow regents in welcoming Mr. McCullough and Mr. Schrader to the board,” said Harry L. Crumpacker, II, Chair and Presiding Officer of the TWU Board of Regents. “I look forward to working together as TWU continues to grow and thrive as an education leader in Texas.”

Mr. McCullough is a senior partner with Thompson & Knight L.L.P. and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Woman’s University Foundation. Since 1997, he has been recognized in the annual publication of Best Lawyers in America. Mr. McCullough is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association and is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He serves on numerous boards, including the Meadows Foundation, Children’s Health Services of Texas, the Salvation Army of Dallas-Fort Worth, the Dallas Symphony Foundation and the Callier Foundation. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a law degree from the University of Texas.

“I am honored to be a part of this 106-year-old university, where my mother graduated with honors and pride in 1926,” Mr. McCullough said. “I salute TWU and its continued goal of maintaining an outstanding educational, cultural and inspirational program for its students. I look forward to nurturing that heritage for future generations of women.”

Mr. Schrader is a principal of Schrader & Cline, L.L.C. and owner of Schrader Investment Company. Previously, he was executive vice president for LDB Corporation and city manager for the cities of Dallas, Mesquite and Ennis. He is a past president and a life member of the International City Management Association, a past president and board member of the Texas City Management Association and a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. He serves on several boards, including Life Information Inc., Baker University, the Methodist Health System and Boy Scouts of America. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Baker University and a master’s degree from the University of Kansas.

“It is a compliment that Gov. Perry appointed me to serve such a distinguished state university,” Mr. Schrader said. “I feel privileged to serve with my fellow board members, and I look forward to having a part in advancing the work of the university.”

The next meeting of the TWU Board of Regents will be held June 8 at the TWU Institute of Health Sciences-Presbyterian Center in Dallas.
