TWU faculty member
named editor of international biomechanics journal
Dr. Young-Hoo Kwon, associate professor of kinesiology at
Texas Woman’s University, recently was named editor
of Sports Biomechanics, the official journal of the International
Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS).
Dr. Kwon is the
first editor from the United States for this publication.
He will serve as editor until the end of 2010.

Sports Biomechanics is the scientific journal of the International
Society of Biomechanics in Sports, the only international
society dedicated to biomechanics in sports. The journal focuses
on ways to improve sports performance and reduce the incidence
of injury, and to communicate this knowledge to sports scientists,
coaches and sports participants.
is published three times a year and will become a quarterly
publication in 2008.
“I see this
year as the beginning of the next generation,” Dr. Kwon
said. “The last five years were more for establishing
the journal, but my main task from now on will be to bring
the journal to a new level.”
Dr. Kwon has served
as reviewer for more than 10 research journals in the areas
of exercise science, biomechanics, and biomedical engineering,
and is on editorial boards of several journals. Prior to this
appointment, Dr. Kwon served on the executive editorial board
of Sports Biomechanics and as the vice president for publications
for the ISBS for last five years.
