TWU’s Houston
Center to host Parry Lectureship and Research Day

HOUSTON —
The Texas Woman’s University Institute of Health Sciences-Houston
Center will host the 11th Annual Parry Lectureship and Research
Day on Friday, March 2. Dr. Nancy Kline, director of research
and evidence-based practice for the department of nursing
at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, will
present the lecture, titled “Developing and Testing
an Evidence-Based Protocol.”
The event will
take place from 9 a.m. until noon in Lecture Hall 2120 of
TWU’s Houston Center, located at 6700 Fannin St. There
is no charge to attend the lecture, but participants are responsible
for their own parking fees. To register, or for more information,

The lectureship
is sponsored by TWU Houston’s Stark College of Nursing,
Sigma Theta Tau International and Beta Beta Houston. TWU has
requested contact hours from the Texas Nurses Association
(TNA). The TNA is an accredited approver of continuing nursing
education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Commission on Accreditation.
Dr. Kline, a pediatric
nurse practitioner, has more than 20 years of clinical experience
working with children who have chronic or life-threatening
illnesses. Her research interests include supportive and palliative
care and symptom management. She has authored more than 75
journal articles and textbook chapters, and has given more
than 150 presentations in 27 countries. She received her doctorate
from TWU.
Dr. Kline currently
is editor-in-chief of the “Journal of Pediatric Oncology
Nursing,” co-editor of “Wong’s Nursing Care
of Infants and Children (7th edition),” co-editor of
“Pediatric Oncology Nursing: Advanced Clinical Handbook,”
editor of “Essentials of Pediatric Oncology Nursing:
A Core Curriculum (2nd edition),” and editor of the
Association of Pediatric Oncology Nurses’ “Chemotherapy
and Biotherapy Provider Program.”
With more than
13,000 alumni and more than 2,300 undergraduate and graduate
students, TWU has the largest college of nursing in Texas
and produces more new nurses than any other program in the
state.
