Dance Center offers new classes

DENTON —
Classes at the Texas Woman’s University Community Dance
Center return this spring with the opportunity for children,
teens and adults to learn some new moves.
Registration ends
Tuesday, Jan. 16, with classes beginning Monday, Jan. 22.
Regular classes range from six to 10 weeks in length, with
prices ranging from $50 to $60. A $5 fee will be added for
registration after Jan. 16.

Added to the list
of classes this spring are intensive workshops in hula and
dances from India. The hula class, which will be taught by
Hula Master Teacher Frank Keli’l Chang, is scheduled
from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 6. The cost is $15.
Another intensive
workshop, “Discover India through Dance,” meets
from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23. Instructor Alpana Jacob,
who has a nursing degree from TWU, has had formal training
in dances from India since an early age. She performs and
teaches a variety of dances from India at various studios
in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Regular classes
include “Salsacize,” a conditioning program; tap;
ballet; creative movement; hip hop jazz; Pilates conditioning;
Latin; ballroom and more. All classes meet in the studios
of the Dance Building, located on the northeast corner of
Bell Avenue and Administration Drive on TWU’s Denton
campus.
