Zephyr Winds to perform at TWU Feb. 21

DENTON — Zephyr Winds, Texas Woman’s University’s faculty woodwind quintet, will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the Margo Jones Performance Hall, located at Oakland and Sawyer streets on TWU’s Denton campus. Admission is free. For more information, call (940) 898-2500.

Selections to be performed include Divertimento for Woodwind Quintet by Nevett Bartow, Partita for Wind Quintet by Irving Fine, and Septet (1948) by Paul Hindemith. Dr. Pamela Youngblood, TWU associate professor of music and a founding member of Zephyr Winds, said the Hindemith Septet features unusual instrumentation and is rarely performed.

The TWU faculty woodwind quintet is comprised of Dr. Youngblood on flute; Mr. Garry Evans on clarinet; Dr. James Hobbs on oboe; Mr. Charles Hall on bassoon; and Mr. Mike Harcrow on horn. Special guests for this concert are Mr. Larry Wells on trumpet and Mr. Anthony Allgeier on bass clarinet.
