Record number to receive their nursing doctorates during TWU’s
winter commencement ceremonies in Denton and Houston

DENTON, HOUSTON
– Texas Woman’s University will confer a record
number of doctoral nursing degrees during its winter commencement
ceremonies in Denton and Houston. A total of 17 — five
in Denton on Dec. 16 and 12 in Houston on Dec. 17 —
will receive their Ph.D. in nursing from TWU.
“I congratulate
the TWU faculty and these students for this accomplishment,”
Dr. Marcia Hern, dean of the College of Nursing said. “Having
so many graduate with their Ph.D. in nursing truly exemplifies
our commitment to alleviating the faculty nursing shortage.”
Graduate nursing
students Melissa A. Craft, RoxAnn Dicker, Carla McArtor Hairston,
Cheryl D. Neill and Vicki Zeigler will accept their degrees
during the noon commencement ceremony to be held at Pioneer
Hall on TWU’s Denton campus. Janine M. Catalano, Anecita
P. Fadol, Tuong-Vi Vo Ho, Cheryl Lindy, Stephanie Marfurt,
JoAnn Mick, Elda G. Ramirez, Ruthie L. Robinson, Pamela E.
Stetina, Cynthia Kellam Stinson, Valarie Philliber Waldmeier
and Mary Yoho will receive their degrees in Houston during
commencement ceremonies to be held Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. in the
Edwin Hornberger Conference Center.
“These nursing
graduates represent a major contribution to the nationwide
pool of faculty for nursing programs,” Dr. Jennifer
Martin, dean of the TWU Graduate School, said. “I commend
the work of TWU's College of Nursing faculty in mentoring
these nurse scholars through their degree programs.”
