Posters by TWU graduate students, faculty named ‘best’
at national nutrition association conference

DENTON –
A poster by Texas Woman’s University nutrition and food
sciences graduate students Rachelle Fowler and Peggy Pratt
received the award for best practices poster at the recent
national School Nutrition Association conference. TWU nutrition
faculty Dr. Carolyn Bednar, Dr. Nancy DiMarco and Dr. Junehee
Kwon also were recognized as having the best research poster
at the meeting.
Ms. Fowler, a master’s
student in institutional administration and business, and
Ms. Pratt, a doctoral nutrition student, were recognized for
their poster titled, “Nutrition Education through a
Virtual Cafeteria.”
Ms. Fowler, of
Garland, is the director of child nutrition services for the
Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. Ms.
Pratt, of Flower Mound, is the assistant director of child
nutrition services for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent
School District.
Drs. Bednar, DiMarco
and Kwon’s poster was titled, “Impact of a school-based
coordinated nutrition intervention on selection and consumption
of fruits and vegetables of students in K-2.” An article
about the posters is featured in the November issue of School
Foodservice and Nutrition, the official publication of the
School Nutrition Association.
“Receiving
recognition for our work on these poster projects at a national
conference demonstrates the excellent faculty and students
in the TWU nutrition program,” said Dr. Bednar, TWU
nutrition professor.
