TWU Opera Ensemble presents Le Nozze di Figaro

DENTON — Mischief, mayhem and marriage go hand in hand as the Texas Woman’s University Opera Ensemble presents Le Nozze di Figaro (“The Marriage of Figaro”) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 3 and 4. The performance, which will be presented in Italian with English supertitles, will take place in the Margo Jones Performance Hall, located at Oakland and Sawyer streets on TWU’s Denton campus. Admission is free. For more information, call (940) 898-2500.

The comic opera begins with preparations for the wedding of Figaro, a valet, and Susanna, a chambermaid. Figaro is outraged to learn that their employer, Count Almaviva, has designs on Susanna, and plots to outwit his master.

The show is double cast, with cast members including: James D. Rodriguez of Fort Worth as Figaro; Megan Varvir Coe of Carrollton as Susanna; Vanessa Guzman of Laredo as Susanna; Brandon Martinez of Fort Worth as the Count; Jennifer Wintle of Denton as the Countess; and Susan Shirel of Evansville, Ind., as the Countess.

The TWU Opera Ensemble is under the direction of Wendy Lee Tedmon.
