Distinguished alumni speak at TWU Leadership Institute Event

Four Texas Woman’s University distinguished alumni served
as the keynote speakers for the “Introduction to the
TWU Leadership Institute” luncheon held on Oct. 17.
Joining Maj. Gen.
Mary Saunders, director of the TWU Leadership Institute and
a 1998 TWU distinguished alum, as keynote speakers were: Laura
Estrada, president of Garza Business Services Inc. and a 1998
TWU distinguished alum; Sheila Whitaker-Kellagher, founder
of TrueCare Health Systems Inc. and a 1995 TWU distinguished
alum; and TWU Regent Ann Williams, founder and artistic director
of the Dallas Black Theatre and a 1990 TWU distinguished alum.
The distinguished
alumni spoke to an audience of TWU students, faculty and staff
about the Institute’s core values of integrity, accountability
and excellence at the event.
The TWU Leadership
Institute builds on existing leadership resources at TWU by
providing a national program that: focuses on a transformative
experience for students who wish to receive creative and responsive
leadership preparation, increases practical opportunities
to gain leadership experience and offers a variety of interactive
and engaging opportunities for student leadership development
including speakers and a mentors series, seminars, service
opportunities and leadership conferences
The Institute will
accept its first students in spring 2006. For more information,
