TWU guest artist
recital to feature Mia Hynes

DENTON —
Award-winning pianist Dr. Mia Hynes, director of the Music
Preparatory Department at the University of Central Missouri,
will perform in a guest artist recital at Texas Woman’s
University at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. She also will conduct
a guest piano master class series at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec.
2. Both the recital and the class will take place in the Margo
Jones Performance Hall, located at Oakland and Sawyer streets
on TWU’s Denton campus. Both events are free and open

Dr. Hynes, an associate
professor of piano and piano pedagogy at UCM, has performed
as a soloist and a chamber musician throughout the United
States. Her appearances include performances at the Aspen
and Chautauqua festivals, the Library of Congress and the
Dag Hammerskjold Library at the United Nations.
She received the
doctor of musical arts in piano performance and literature
degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied
with — and served as teaching assistant to — Nelita
True. Dr. Hynes also holds bachelor and master of music degrees
from Indiana University, where she was a student of Menahem
Pressler and served on the teaching staff of the Young Pianists
Program.
Dr. Hynes serves
as the piano division chair of the National Federation of
Music Clubs Young Artist Auditions. She also is president
of the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs.
