Pezzimenti, Cotton
concert at TWU to feature selections from new CD
11/01/06
DENTON —
Classical guitarists Carlo Pezzimenti and Aaron Cotton will
perform selections from their new CD, “Diplogenesis,”
in concert Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Texas Woman’s University.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin
at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods, located on
TWU’s Denton campus. For more information, call (940)
898-2500.
Mr. Pezzimenti,
an adjunct assistant professor at TWU, and Mr. Cotton, a noted
guitarist and a 2004 graduate of TWU, recently released their
new CD on the Mapleshade Records label.
The concert will
include pieces by Mexican composer Ernesto Garcia de Leon,
Cajun composer Brian Clement-Foreman and Spanish composers
Manuel de Falla and Enrique Granados. Mr. Pezzimenti and Mr.
Cotton will perform on two legendary classical guitars made
by the master guitar makers Ignacio and Gabriel Fleta from
Barcelona, Spain.
Mr. Pezzimenti
began studying guitar at age 13 while living with his family
in Italy. He often traveled during the summer to Spain to
study under Andres Segovia, “the father of classical
guitar.” Mr. Pezzimenti eventually earned a degree in
music from the prestigious Morlacchi Conservatory in Perugia,
and soon after started his professional career. He has performed
in the United States, Europe and Latin America, and in 2005,
he completed a three-week tour of China.
Mr. Cotton began
performing in public by the age of 12, and in 2001, he was
invited to present several recitals in England. He received
his bachelor of arts in music from TWU in 2004, and has since
continued to perform nationally and internationally. He was
awarded first place in the 2005 Eastfield College Classic
Guitar Festival and Competition in Mesquite.
