Dr. Peggy Blake Gleeson, associate professor of physical therapy
at Texas Woman's University’s Houston campus, has been
elected vice president of the Education Section of the American
Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
“I am honored
to have been elected by my peers to this position,”
Dr. Blake Gleeson said. “By assuming the position of
VP of the Education Section, I am able to expand my level
of knowledge as well as extend my level of influence in contributing
to the growth of our profession.”
Dr. Blake Gleeson
continued, “I have enjoyed many years of serving on
committees with various members of the physical therapy education
community, both academics and clinicians. This is a very exciting
time for our profession as we move to doctorate-level education.
My particular interest is in the realm of clinical education
and how the changes in our professional education directly
impact a student’s internship.”
APTA is a national
professional organization representing more than 66,000 members.
Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice,
