DENTON —
Texas Woman’s University will honor Dr. Wilkes Berry,
professor and associate provost emeritus, with a retirement
reception Thursday, Aug. 4, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on the second
floor of the Administration Conference Tower, located on Administration
Drive on TWU’s Denton campus.
Dr. Berry retired this month following 24 years of service
with TWU. During his tenure, he served as professor of English,

the General Divisions, associate vice president for academic
and cultural affairs, associate provost and interim provost.
Dr. Berry received the Award for Meritorious Service to Texas

in the last 31 years.
A native of Fort Worth, Dr. Berry graduated from Abilene Christian
University and received his master’s and doctorate degrees
in English from Rice University. He has served as both president
of the Denton Rotary Club and governor of Rotary District
5790. He also has served as president of the First Texas Council
of Camp Fire Inc. and as a member of the advisory committee
for North Texas Public Broadcasting Inc.
