TWU's 'Well Wednesday'
to Promote Health, Wellness

DENTON — Denton-area residents can check on their health and have fun in the process as Texas Woman's University hosts its fourth annual Well Wednesday Health and Wellness Fair on April 6.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public. The health fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Pioneer Hall, located on Bell Avenue on TWU's Denton campus. For more information, call (940) 898-3833 or e-mail healtheducation@mail.twu.edu.
Many of the services are provided free of charge, including blood pressure checks, spinal checks, hearing tests and BMI (body mass index) measurements. Free neck and back massages also will be available.
Blood cholesterol checks will be available for $15 to $25. Fasting for eight to 10 hours prior to the screening is recommended.
Baylor Hospital's mobile mammography unit will provide screenings for $99 for those who schedule an appointment in advance. Appointments may be made by calling (800) 422-9567. All major insurance claims will be accepted.
Information ranging from healthy pregnancy to stroke prevention to family disaster relief will be available, and door prizes will be awarded.
Nearly 35 vendors will be represented at Well Wednesday, including the Denton County Health Department, Denton County Friends of the Family, the American Heart Association, TWU Student Health Services, TWU Communication and Sciences, the TWU College of Nursing and TWU Eta Sigma Gamma and Wellness Services. The American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive in room 207 of the Student Center, located at the southwest corner of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive.
