Barbershop
Quartets to perform at TWU
6/3/05
DENTON — The a cappella sounds of four-part harmonies
will fill the air as barbershop quartets perform Saturday,
June 11 at Texas Woman’s University.
The concert will
begin at 7 p.m. in the Margo Jones Performance Hall, located
at Oakland and Sawyer streets on TWU’s Denton campus.
Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. For more
information, call (940) 898-3644.
The concert is
part of a four-day camp with Harmony Explosion — quartets
for young men in high school, and Harmony Ranch — adult
men’s barbershop quartets. This is the third year the
camp has taken place at TWU.
In addition to
the 100-voice Young Men in Harmony Chorus, the concert will
feature “Nightlife,” the 1996 international quartet
champions from Los Angeles; “Saturday Evening Post,”
the current medallist quartet from Denver; “McKinley
Street Function,” the current Southwestern District
quartet champions from Louisiana; the Fort Worth “Texas
Millionaires” chorus performing their international
competition “scarecrow” package.
TWU Conference
Services coordinates a number of camps each summer, including
music, cheerleading, academic and enrichment camps.
