TWU
to recognize staff at Honors Convocation
4/15/05
DENTON — Three Texas Woman’s University will be
honored for their contributions to the university during Honors
Convocation ceremonies Thursday, April 21. Convocation begins
at 10 a.m. in the Margo Jones Performance Hall, located at Oakland
and Sawyer streets on TWU’s Denton campus.
Jerry Don Sprayberry,
senior general services clerk for Facilities Management and
Construction, will receive the TWU Excellence Award. Jason
Brison, manager of Information Systems Applications Support
for Information Services, and Brenda Klingner, coordinator
for University Scheduling, will receive Outstanding Staff
Achievement awards.
The TWU Award of
Excellence is presented to a full-time employee who has a
minimum of five years continuous service with TWU. The employee
should display outstanding personality traits such as loyalty,
dedication, initiative and reliability, and should demonstrate
the ability to relate well to all members of the university
community. Recipients of the Outstanding Achievement Awards
must be full-time TWU employees who have a minimum of two
years of continuous service to the university and who exhibit
superior job performance and a high degree of proficiency
in their position.
Sprayberry
has been employed with TWU for 20 years and has earned a reputation
as someone who always gets the job done. “He has been
given tasks to complete that would have taken others a week
to complete, and he would have it completed correctly and
before the deadline,” one of his nominators said. “He
has a winning attitude that is contagious.”
Brison drew rave
reviews from faculty and staff for his help in making the
transition to a new software system. “Without his classroom
training sessions and often one-on-one assistance, this transition
would not have been possible,” one nominator said. Others
described him as a model employee for TWU. “While his
audience usually is the faculty and staff, he is always thinking
of how his work will ultimately impact the students of TWU.”
Klingner exhibits
exceptional proficiency in a job that covers four campuses.
Keeping room assignments straight requires research and an
extensive knowledge of all rooms on all campuses. Klingner
always accomplishes her work efficiently and in a timely manner,
one of her nominators said. She also has assisted at graduation
ceremonies on the Denton campus for several years, helping
to ensure the events run smoothly.
