Debost to lead seminar,
concert at TWU

DENTON — World-renowned flutist Michel Debost will join
with Texas Woman’s University students in a gala concert
Tuesday, June 21. The concert, which is free and open to the
public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Margo Jones Performance
Hall, located at Oakland and Sawyer streets on TWU’s
Denton campus. For more information, call (940) 898-2500.
The concert will
conclude a two-day seminar to be led by Debost, professor
of flute and performance at Oberlin Conservatory. The seminar
will include master classes and academic sessions.
Debost succeeded
Jean-Pierre Rampal as flute professor at the Paris Conservatoire
from 1982 to 1990, and served as principal flutist of the
Orchestre de Paris under music directors Munch, Karajan, Soliti
and Barenboim from 1960 to1990. He is a consulting editor
for “Flute Talk” and is the author of “The
Simple Flute.”
