TWU to Host Conference
for Child Care Providers
DENTON — Area child care providers can learn more about licensing, discipline strategies and more as Texas Woman's University hosts the second annual Child Care Providers Conference Saturday, Feb. 12.
The conference will take place in the Human Development Building , located at Old Main Circle and Bell Avenue on TWU's Denton Campus. The $30 registration fee includes morning coffee and lunch. Online registration is available at www.twu.edu/lifelong or by mail. No telephone or e-mail registration will be accepted, and no on-site registration will be available. Registered participants will sign in on the second floor of the Administration Conference Tower (ACT) from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Concurrent sessions on topics ranging from cultural sensitivity to shaken baby/SIDS will take place in the Arts and Sciences Building . Participants also can learn more about the Child Development Associate certificate program at TWU.
Dr. Nancy DiMarco, a research professor in TWU's Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, will present the keynote address, "Childhood Obesity," at 1:15 p.m. in Hubbard Hall. DiMarco also is nutrition coordinator for the Institute of Women 's Health and coordinator of the master's program in exercise and sports nutrition at TWU.
All participants will receive a total of four clock hours from TWU.
The conference is sponsored by the TWU Department of Family Sciences, the TWU Department of Lifelong Learning and the Texas Cooperative Extension.
