Alumni Art Exhibition scheduled at TWU
10/21/05
DENTON —
Works by graduates of Texas Woman’s University’s
visual arts program will be featured in the TWU West Gallery’s
Painting Alumni Art Exhibition scheduled Nov. 7-29. A reception
will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29.
The gallery is
in the Visual Arts Building, located at Texas and Oakland
streets on TWU’s Denton campus. Gallery hours are 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The exhibit and the
reception are free and open to the public. For more information,
contact the TWU Department of Visual Arts at (940) 898-2530.
Works by Kathryn
“Kit” Hall, Clotilde Espinosa, Deb Maxey and Deanna
Wood are featured in the exhibit. Hall, who earned her master
of fine arts degree from TWU in 1993, is an associate professor
of art at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. Her work
relies on a wide range of combinations of media utilizing
figurative and abstract elements.
Espinosa, who earned
her MFA in 1989, uses finely-crafted real and surreal elements
in her work to convey a particularly personal vision.
Maxey, who graduated
with an MFA in 2003, currently teaches at the Craft Guild
of Dallas. Her work merges two- and three-dimensional elements
with unorthodox combinations of media to create objects that
give evidence of living or fossilized organisms.
Wood, who received
her MF in 2004, uses layered imagery with rich color and surface
texture dealing with complex issues of fragility and security.
