Seven TWU Students Receive Good Neighbor Scholarships

DENTON — Seven international students at Texas Woman’s University have received Good Neighbor Scholarships for the 2004-2005 academic year. They are:

  • Scott Benjamin from Trinidad and Tobago, an undergraduate biology major;
  • Nola Smith from Trinidad and Tobago, an undergraduate nursing major;
  • Angie Galvis from Colombia, a graduate student majoring in occupation therapy;
  • Nadia Mills from Canada, a graduate student majoring in physical therapy;
  • Sonia Gibbs from Barbados, an executive master’s in business administration major;
  • Ainsley Bulgin from Jamaica, an undergraduate nursing major, and
  • Gregoria Bustillos from Peru, an undergraduate student majoring in interdisciplinary studies.

The Good Neighbor Scholarship Program, administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, pays the tuition costs of scholarship recipients for an entire academic year.

The Good Neighbor Scholarship Program is open to international students who are citizens of countries in the Western Hemisphere, except Cuba. The student must intend to return to his or her native country upon completion of his or her degree.

Students also must be attending or be eligible to attend public colleges or universities in the state of Texas to receive the scholarship. Students who are permanent residents of the United States, or who have refugee status, are not eligible for the program.

Undergraduate students must have a 2.0 or better grade-point-average, and graduate students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
