Verizon Eminent Scholar Lecture Cancelled
TWU Dance Department Plans KidsDance Workshop
DENTON — Students ages 6 to 12 will have the opportunity to express themselves
this summer as the Texas Woman’s University Department of Dance offers
KidsDance, an introduction to modern dance in a creative and fun environment.
The workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. until noon June 23 through July 3 in
studio 208 of the Dance Gymnastics Laboratory, located at Bell Avenue and Administration
Drive on TWU’s Denton campus. The $275 workshop fee includes a T-shirt
and all materials. Students should bring a snack and a water bottle each day
and should wear comfortable clothing. For more information or to register, call
(940) 898-2085 or e-mail email@example.com.
Students will learn how elements such as individuality, improvisation and rhythm
are used in choreography and performance, and will work together to create an
original dance presentation. The workshop will conclude with a studio performance
that will be open to the public.
Marissa Nesbit, company manager for DanceWorks, will lead the workshop. Nesbit
has organized and presented lecture-demonstrations and master classes for students
in kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as for community college programs.
