  • Am I required to attend Orientation?
    • Transfer Orientation is optional but highly encouraged.
    • If you are transferring less than 12 credit hours then you are required to attend our First-Year Orientation.
  • What is Orientation?
    • Orientation is a way for the student and their parents and family to get to know the campus prior to the first day of classes. Orientation sessions provide valuable student services and academic information critical for success and a strong first semester. Orientation covers degree planning, academic concerns, student support programs, housing and food services, commuter information, and more.
  • Who can attend Transfer Orientation?
    • Any student that has been accepted to the University for the Fall 2016 semester that is transferred in 12 or more non-dual credit hours and any parent and family member that the student wishes to invite.
  • When is Transfer Orientation?
    • Thursday, April 28, 2016 (evening session)
    • Friday, June 10, 2016
    • Saturday, June 25, 2016
  • What is the fee to attend Orientation?
    • For our Transfer Students (Student's transferring in 13 or more credit hours) the fee is $35.00*.
    • The fee for guest is $25.00* per guest
      *All fees are subject to change at anytime.
  • What does this fee include?
    • The fee includes but is not limited to, meals, program materials, and t-shirt.
  • How do I pay the Orientation fee?
    • Fees will be paid when registering for Orientation or when you check into Orientation.
  • Is there a waiver for the Orientation fee if I cannot afford it?
    • Transfer Orientation is not required, so there are not Orientation fee waivers.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
    • All cancellations must be requested in writing two weeks prior to the date of Orientation to the Center for Student Development in order to receive a refund totaling the amount you paid less a $10.00 administration charge. Any requests received within two weeks of the date of Orientation or after the Orientation program has begun will not receive a refund. Please note that if you wish to simply change your date, email TWU Orientation at orientation@twu.edu.
    • If I attended Orientation, is my Orientation fee refundable?
      • All fees, charged at the time of Orientation check-in, are all-inclusive and non-refundable.
  • What do I need to bring?
    • Bacterial Meningitis vaccination record (Required in order to register for classes)
    • One original and two copies of transcripts from high school and any college or university
    • Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes
    • A sweater, as some of the meeting rooms may be cool
  • Where will I stay during Orientation?
    • Transfer Orientation is a one-day program; therefore, overnight accommodation is not provided. If you and/or your parent and family wish to stay in Denton, please refer to the "Preferred Hotel" link located on the main page of the Orientation website.
  • Do my parents need to attend Orientation with me?
    • We encourage parents and family members to attend Orientation with their student. There is a Parent and Family Orientation session concurrently offered during each Transfer Orientation session.
  • How will I know that I am registered for Orientation?
    • Once you register online, you will receive a confirmation email to your TWU email account.
  • Can I change the number of parent and family members I bring after registering?
    • We can accommodate parent and family member changes at any time, but you will be responsible to pay for the number of parent and family members you bring with you the morning of check-in.
