General Orientation Information
- What is Orientation?
- Orientation is a way for the student and their families to get to know the campus prior to the first day of classes.
- Who can attend Orientation?
- Any student that has been accepted to the University and any guests that the student wishes to invite.
- When is Orientation?
- For those that have been accepted for the Fall 2012 semester the schedule is as follows:
- Transfer Student Orientation (for all students transferring in 13 or more credit hours)
- June 1, 2012
- July 27, 2012

- What do I need to do before I come to orientation?
- You will need to register for orientation and logon to your pioneer portal and accept your payment terms and conditions and any other terms and conditions that may be applicable.
- What do I need to bring?
- TSI and ACT/SAT/TAAS scores
- One original and two copies of transcripts from high scholl and any college or university
- Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes
- A sweater, as some of the meeting rooms may be cool
- Where will I stay during Orientation?
- Transfer Orientation is a one-day program; therefore it will be up to the student and/or their guests as to if you stay in Denton for the evening. Denton has many hotels throughout the town that would be more than happy to accommodate you and/or your guests.
Orientation Program Information
- What time does the Orientation Program begin?
- Orientation begins promptly at 8 am in Hubbard Hall.
- What time does the Orientation program end?
- Orientation ends after you have completed the Registration process.
- Is Orientation mandatory?
- Orientation is only mandatory for those students who are transferring in less than 13 credit hours. However if you are transferring in 13 credit hours or more it is strongly encouraged that you attend Orientation.
- Do I have to see an advisor?
- Yes, all transfer students need to meet with their advisor at orientation prior to registering for classes.
- Where do I park?
- You may park anywhere on campus as long as you do not have a TWU decal on your vehicle and you do not park in any Disability or State Vehicle parking spaces (both of these are marked with a white curb). For a map of campus please click here.
- Can I stay overnight?
- Transfer Orientation is a one-day program; therefore it will be up to the student and/or their guests as to if you stay in Denton for the evening. Denton has many hotels throughout the town that would be more than happy to accommodate you and/or your guests. However if you have applied to live in University Housing please contact the Center for Student Development so that we can discuss your individual accommodations. Orientation Payment Information
- What is the fee to attend Orientation?
- For our Transfer Students (Student's transferring in 13 or more credit hours) the fee is $30.00.
- The fee for guest is $20.00 per guest
- What does this fee include?
- The fee includes all program materials and meals.
- How do I pay the Orientation fee?
- Transfer Students will pay their fee either when they register for orientation or when they check into Orientation.
- Guests will need to pay their fee that the time of registration for oreintation or when they check into Orientation.
- What is the cancellation policy?
- You must notify the Center for Student Development two weeks prior to your orientation date that you wish you cancel your orientation. This notification must be made in writing and you may do this by sending an email to orientation@twu.edu. Any cancellation we receive with less than 2 weeks notice will be subject to a $10.00 administration charge.
