Profile
Dr. Voss retired in 2007, after 26 years in the classrooms of Garland ISD where he taught fifteen years in fifth grade and eleven years in middle school. His last assignment was teaching 6th grade math to academically at risk learners. While at GISD, Dr. Voss served on various district-wide committees, wrote elementary curriculum and received the Garland Power and Light Teacher of the Month award. Dr. Voss has taught both graduate and undergraduate classes in education at Eastfield Community College and at Texas Woman’s University. While at TAMU-Commerce, Dr. Voss explored the connections between reading and writing and studied the impact of New Jersey Writing Project training for teachers on the TAAS reading and writing scores of students in grades three through eight. His dissertation was the second of three nominations for the Distinquished Dissertation Award. In addition to his work in teacher preparation, Dr. Voss raises cattle with his younger son Brad which explains the lovely hat in the accompanying photo.
