Profile

Prior to joining the Texas Woman’s University Special Education faculty in August 2007, Dr. Stephens was on faculty at the University of Texas at Tyler.  Her public school experience involved working as an Educational Diagnostician and a Special Education teacher.  Dr. Stephens worked with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disorders and/or Learning Disabilities in Louisiana and Texas. 

Dr. Stephens has conducted over 50 presentations at the local, national, and international levels.  She has co-authored a book entitled, Tactics for Boosting Academic Achievement and has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles.  Research interests include:  effective assessment practices, data based decision making, diverse learners, teacher preparation, and scientifically based interventions.
