Profile
Dr. McMahan received a bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies education at Abilene Christian University, a master’s degree in Educational Administration from ACU, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech University.
Dr. McMahan came to TWU in the fall of 2009 semester after serving as an assistant professor of social studies education at the University of Mississippi. Prior to her experience in academia, she taught United States History in the DFW area. Her research focus is in the area of social studies education, school/university partnerships, and preservice/novice teacher induction and mentoring. Dr. McMahan is actively involved in school/university partnerships through her work with various school districts in Texas. Her teaching specializations are in foundations of education, social studies methods, methods of instruction, and curriculum development/implementation/evaluation.
