Profile

Before joining Texas Woman’s University in 2003, Dr. Claudia Sanchez pursued graduate studies while serving as instructor of graduate and undergraduate courses in the area of bilingual education at Texas A&M – College Station for six years. Prior to this, she served as instructor of Spanish, English, and French languages in Mexico and coordinator for K-12 bilingual programs.

Dr. Sanchez is a frequent speaker at the Bilingual/ESL Association of the Metroplex (BEAM), the Texas Association for Bilingual Education (TABE), the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE), the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the International Reading Association (IRA), and the Teachers English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) association. Her research interests include Spanish language literacy, English as a Second Language teaching methodologies, grant writing, and the integration of technology and instruction in teacher education programs. Dr. Sanchez is director of Project GATEWAY, a 1.1 million dollar federal grant for degreed professionals interested in pursuing a teaching career in the Dallas area. She is also an expert reviewer for the NABE Journal of Research and Practice (NJRP).
