Profile
Dr. Whitworth has 17 years experience working in schools as an English and Speech teacher at the high school level, a special education teacher in middle school, and as a special education director and school superintendent. He also worked as a supervisor and program manager for the Missouri and Illinois state education agencies. Before coming to TWU in the Fall of 2006 he spent 10 years as Professor and Chair of the Teacher Education Department at Abilene Christian University. He is currently the Past President of the Texas Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the President-Elect of the Texas Council for Exceptional Children. His research interests include the effective preparation of teachers, strategy instruction for students, and creating more inclusive schools.
