Profile

Prior to joining the Texas Woman’s University in August of 1982, Dr. Fritsch was an Area Coordinator/Director of Special Education at Special School District of St. Louis County. He coordinated special education services for disabled children in the areas of behavioral disorders, learning disabilities and mental retardation. Previous to that position, Dr. Fritsch served as an assistant professor of special education at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield , Missouri where he coordinated the undergraduate and masters programs in the area of behavioral disorders. He also served as a visiting instructor in special education at Arizona State University in Tempe , Arizona . His public school teaching experiences included him serving as an educational coordinator/liaison teacher, social studies teacher and language arts teacher in juvenile detention centers in Missouri .

Dr. Fritsch has conducted over 130 workshops for school districts on social skills training, classroom management techniques and classroom management systems, instructional modifications for at-risk students, and the impact of IDEA on general education teachers and special education teachers. Additionally, Dr. Fritsch has authored 30 journal articles, 1 book and 3 book chapters on the topics of educating emotionally disturbed children and at-risk children, providing effective social skills instruction to students, and effective classroom management practices and systems for at-risk students. Finally, Dr. Fritsch has conducted over 100 professional presentations on the topics of providing social skills instruction to at-risk students and effective classroom management strategies and systems for emotionally disturbed and at-risk populations.
