Profile
Tallulah Crawley-Shinault arrived at Texas Woman’s University in 2008 and comes with experience in public school and university teaching and social service. Her experiences have been concentrated in the areas of education and social service. Dr. Shinault views education as a tool for empowerment, civic engagement and economic self sufficiency. She believes that through the development of strong, competent and conscientious leadership in our nation’s most challenged schools, great strides can be made toward achieving the ambitious goals of No Child Left Behind and the unwritten promises of Brown v. Board. She understands that it is only through the creation of good schools in every community, with high standards, quality teachers and strong leadership, that poverty, hopelessness and senseless crime will loosen its grip on the poor. "The students in the Administration Program at TWU are enthusiastic practitioners and tomorrow’s leaders who share the belief that “all children can learn” and are entitled to achieve to their fullest potential. It is incumbent upon our faculty to nurture those qualities as we prepare them for the increasing demands of diversity and globalization." She believes that strong community partnerships and close school liaisons are critical for effective leadership preparation at TWU. Dr. Shinault looks forward to enhancing these relationships by building alliances through meaningful collaboration and cooperation.
Her scholarly interests include educational leadership preparation, principal professional development, urban schools and social justice. She is currently pursuing research in the area of principal certification and licensure.
